Wednesday, 05 October

 

  • Accommodation reserved at the Peermont Metcourt Hotel, Johannesburg on a twin-share room basis only.
  • Any extras (meals, drinks, telephone calls, etc.) are for your account and to be settled at the hotel before checking out.

  • There is a complimentary shuttle from O.R. Tambo, Johannesburg International Airport to the Peermont Metcourt.  The Hotel Shuttle can be found outside terminal 2A, International arrivals at the designated Hotel “pick up” and “drop off” point situated outside the terminal buildings opposite the Airport Inter-Continental Hotel. 
  • Directions from International Arrival Terminal to Shuttle pick up - As you exit the Terminal turn left. The intercontinental Hotel will be on your right hand side across the drop off lanes.  At the first pedestrian crossing you will see a sign “PUBLIC TRANSPORT”. Continue going through the Car Hire Foyer. Upon exiting the building you will enter the shuttle pick up area were all hotel shuttles would be.
  • Genevieve, who is also one of your physios during the event, will be waiting at or close by the Information Counter at the Arrivals Hall at Terminal 2 from 07:30 to 11:00 to assist in directing you to the pickup point of the shuttle bus.  She will be wearing the grey crew t-shirt with the leopard logo on the back.

Thursday, 06 October

 

IMPORTANT!!  IF YOU ARE ARRIVING WITH YOUR OWN TRANSPORT GO TO THE AUGRABIES FALLS LODGE FIRST TO COLLECT YOUR CAR STICKER TO ALLOW YOU ENTRANCE INTO THE PARK.  THE ROOMS WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM 17:00.   DO NOT GO DIRECTLY TO THE PARK. (THE LODGE IS ONLY 4KM FROM THE PARK.)

Meet in the parking area at the Peermont Metcourt to load the baggage on the bus.

Bus departs Peermont Metcourt, Johannesburg.  If you are late, you will miss the bus!

Light breakfast and lunch packs will be served on the bus.

17:00

Arrive at Augrabies Falls National Park and collect a map and chalets keys from Adele and Carin, who will be waiting in the parking area.

Accommodation booked on a sharing basis at the Augrabies Falls National Park.

19:00

Meet at the Parking Area, Augrabies Falls National Park, for transfer to the Augrabies Falls Lodge for dinner.

19:30

Typical South African ‘potjie’ dinner at the Augrabies Falls Lodge. 

Goodies bags will be handed out for all the participants, which will also include the route booklet.

Runners to collect their breakfast packs before returning to the Park.

 

Friday, 07 October

 

 

At leisure until 10:30.

10:30

Runners briefing.  All runners must attend.

 

Once the briefing is finished, start the compulsory equipment and medical checks. 

 

Equipment checks will be done at specific tables, each table having allocated bib numbers.  Once the compulsory equipment is checked, your list will be signed.  Take this list for your medical checks and have it signed off here too.

 

Hand in your signed list to the last table and you will be given your running bib and two bottles of water of which one must be used to fill your running bottles for Day 1, Start to CP 1.

12:00

Hamburger/chicken/vegetable 'make up your own' burgers for lunch.

14:00

Game drive through the Augrabies Falls National Park.  Meet Aaron at the bus in the car park.

18:00

Meet at the Parking Area, Augrabies Falls National Park, for transfer to the Augrabies Falls Lodge for dinner.

18:30

Early dinner at the lodge.

 

Transfer back to the Park after dinner.

Saturday, 08 October

 

 

Ensure that your running bottles are filled.

Take your luggage (which will be locked away for the duration of the event) to the Car Park to be loaded into the bus trailer.  Make sure that each item is clearly labeled with your name and bib number.  Do not hand in any loose items.  Two baggage labels are included in your information wallet.  Please ensure that you sign in your luggage. 

 

Make sure you know which vehicle you are travelling to the start in.

Leave the Park for the start at Daberas.  This will take about 1hr.

09:00

Start of the 12th Kalahari Augrabies Extreme Marathon.  

 

Saturday, 08 October to Friday, 14 October

 

 

Each day is detailed on the race program which you will receive at registration.

 

Friday, 14 October

 

 

Staggered start for the last leg.

11:00 to 14:00

Participants finishing the race. 

 

Light lunch (sandwiches) and refreshments will be available.  Refreshments can be signed for and paid for that evening.  Rest of day at leisure.

 

When finished the race, sign for and collect your luggage and collect your chalet keys.

18:00

Meet at the Parking Area, Augrabies Falls National Park, for transfer to the Augrabies Falls Lodge for dinner.

18:30

Quiet, early dinner at the Augrabies Falls Lodge.

 

Transfer back to the Augrabies Falls National Park after dinner.

Saturday, 15 October

Meet at the Parking Area, Augrabies Falls National Park, for transfer to the Augrabies Falls Lodge for breakfast.

Breakfast.

 

Rest of the day at leisure.

Meet at the Parking Area, Augrabies Falls National Park, for transfer to the Augrabies Hall for Prize giving function and dinner.

 

After dinner, Simon and Gunther will entertain you. 

 

Transfer back to the Augrabies Falls National Park.

Sunday, 16 October

Meet at the Car Park for return trip to Johannesburg.

Bus departs Augrabies Falls National Park.  Please do not be late.

 

Light breakfast and lunch packs will be served on the bus.

Arrive at the Peermont Metcourt, Johannesburg.

 

Accommodation has been reserved at the Peermont Metcourt, Johannesburg on your behalf on a twin-share, bed and breakfast basis. 

Any extras (meals, drinks, telephone calls, etc.) are for your own account

 

For international participants making use of the bus transfers to and from Augrabies it is recommended to overnight in Johannesburg on 16 October.  It is not advisable to book a flight to leave Johannesburg on the same day in case of a delay due to unforeseen circumstances which will result in missing your return flight.
