KAEM Crew's Lament by Famie Van Rensburg

Estienne says "just follow the road",

Water, gazebo, crew make up the load,

But.... don't go right, "you'll see your gat"

Locals, tell us smilingly "dus daai klein pad"

Five nervous crew members, with just one map,

Frankie says: "It's just a pretty picture man....

what's the use of that........................................

This whole bloody thing is way beyond me,

"ek gee nie 'n donner om nie" says LD,

GPS equipment to show the way,  but

no satellite reception on the day,

Estienne hyperventilating, Nadia vaguely bemused..

While crew stumble about completely confused!!

Bring your own plates.... now take them away...

Neale's Kalahari saarmies, well we've nothing to say

Runners some quick for your physio repair,

"Aaaaah, a little to the left, Genevieve, NO not there !!

We leave the athletes a tired and motley crew

Yes! Namaqua wines, any colour will do... but

Too much of that and the places becomes a zoo.

To Nadia, Estienne, Athletes and Crew,

can't wait for next year, and trust we'll see you too,

Oh and one last piece of useless information for you,

When LD has absolutely nothing left to do,

he resolutely makes his way to the camps loo,

Its the only one he knows with such a marvellous view !!
