Jerome Sampson ~ Jerome is from Cape Town and is part of the medical team.
Cameramen

Frankie Du Toit ~ Frankie is from Pretoria, South Africa and is single.  He is a cameraman, rigging grip and DOP's television series and enjoys mountain climbing and 'bar hopping'.  Frankie is part of the event crew because he enjoys the thrill of being at the event and says it's pretty extreme just filming it. He loves the unique people,  volunteers and runners, that the event attracts.

Dave Harraway ~ Dave is from Hartebeespoort and is single.  He is a freelance camera operator and enjoys anything to do with video production and cameras, and anything to do with being outdoors. David is part of the event crew because after being on the crew at Addo, felt it's an experience not to be missed. Two passions are fulfilled, running around in the bush, with a camera. He also especially enjoyed working with such interesting and enthusiastic people on the Addo event, which was so well organised.
Camps

LD & Roline Van Essen ~ LD works at the University of Pretoria, but now also works with the EWT. He is volunteering because he liked the people and place so much last year decided to do it again. Apart from the fact that he did not train enough to even try and run this year…….maybe 2010.  Roline is currently an MSc student at Stellenbosch University doing research on game meat quality, likes photography, bird watching & scuba diving. She is volunteering because she decided LD needs help in camp and he could not stop talking about the place and the people since last year so she has to see what it is all about.

Crew

Anne & Arthur Centner ~ Anne and Arthur are married and Anne is making abortive attempts to retire.  Arthur instead is attempting to become the Southern Cape, All Africa, Inter-Galactic Champion of doing absolutely nothing!!!  Why KAEM? Anne As a participator in 2007, I experienced such wonderful support from the crew that I would now like to give the 2008 participators the same encouragement I received to enable them to also cross the finishing line!  Arthur The only time I get to see my wife!!

Gilly Mills ~ Gilly is from Cape Town, South Africa and is single.  She is a nurse and enjoys outdoors.  Gilly is part of the event crew because she enjoys spending time with her 'family' away from home.

Carmon Paulsen ~ Carmon is from Cape Town, South Africa, is single and has 3 children, Tracey, Vera and Rhonda.  She is a registered nurse and enjoys having fun with friends and reading.  Carmon is part of the event crew because it gives her a chance to get close to nature and spend time with her 'Augrabies family'.

Heidi van der Merwe ~ Heidi is a clerk in Standerton.  Why KAEM: To support Lukas

Theanette Staal ~ Theanette is a Veterinary Nurse and is working in the UK at the moment.  Why KAEM:  I love the place, the people, the event. To see my KAEM 'family' again and be part of this unique and crazy experience that is KAEM. This is the place where you find yourself again, to be close to nature, to refresh your spirit. A highlight on my calender!

JJ & Famie Van Rensburg ~ JJ & Famie reside in Sedgefield, just outside Knysna on the Garden Route and have four children, nine grand children, a dog, and some really odd friends. Both retired, however remain involved in the community by running the wilderness Craft Market, which supports the South African National Parks Honorary Rangers who provide funding and support to the wilderness National Park, of which we are members and J J is the Chairperson.  Hobbies include golf, photography, hiking, and most outdoor activities.  Famie is an artist, quilter and the rest along with her husband .  Why KAEM: out of a sense of adventure and our love of extreme sports and outdoor activities.

Alwyn & Adele Maass ~ Alwyn has been a winemaker at Namaqua Wines for the past 11 years!  He saw the exhibition at the Comrades Marathon and decided that this could be some challenge for the future.  Although at first he was keen on participating he decided that next year maybe the ONE!!  Adele is an ex –social worker but know a house-executive!  They have two girls and enjoy the outdoor life whenever the chance is there. Every June holiday they check out a new destination in Africa with friends. Why KAEM: Well to be truly honest, Alwyn wants to check out how it is done and secondly we are representing Namaqua Wines! Otherwise it will be an experience and we could maybe bring you more of our athletes from Namaqua next year. We are very excited to be with you on the crew in October!!!

Alison Waudby ~ Alison is married to Phil, and they have a son, Cameron and works in accounts for Tren Tyre.  Why KAEM:  Because it is such fun.  You meet so many new people from so many countries.  Do not forget we as crew are part of a team to assist and help the runners, it is hard work, but worth it.  Enjoy, if this is your first time.

Kevin Harvey - Driving Dr Charl ~ Kevin Harvey is from Durban and is married to Debbie.  They have one daughter Kelly who is also part of the crew.  He is a Land Surveyor and enjoys sport, reading, offroad driving and being out in the wide open spaces.  Kevin is part of the event crew for the Kalahari Extreme Marathon because you get to meet interesting people and just being there in the wide open spaces where every room has a view.

Kelly Harvey ~ Kelly is from Durban, is a student at Westville Girls' High School in Grade 11 and enjoys horse riding, vaulting, movies, scrap booking/crafts and camping out.  Kelly is part of the event crew for the Kalahari Augrabies Extreme Marathon because it is a great experience where you can have loads of fun and meet people from different countries.

Physiotherapists

Genevieve Stroombergen ~ Genevieve's motto is ...KIS it...Keep It Simple! If it's simple, it's stressless! She has her own practice which will be busy very soon so if you need to make an appointment then do it now. She loves working in her garden, painting, drawing and making stuff. Genevieve is SINGLE!!!!!!! and a Sport and Remedial Massage Therapist.  Why KAEM:... Because, as they say, the Kalahari bug has bitten and it ain't letting go. This is only for crazy people, and I'm one of them. Good company, good wine, good times, what more can you ask for.
