Challenging but worth every second of it. I can still see the views when I close my eyes and think back although it makes me quite sad as I sit behind me computer again today. It all happened so quickly and it's now quite sad that it's over. Compliments to everyone along the course as well ... seeing those tents was like seeing the Pearly Gates ... the smiles, food and general encouragement was just what the doctor ordered to get through the 50 miles. The whole event was just fabulous... Kate Snoodyk (50M) Thanks again for a truly magic race on Saturday - it is a tough one but well organised with a great atmosphere. Anton Millar (50M) Thanks for an unforgettable experience it was really amazing. I’ve already started planning for next year. Stephen Goodhead (25M) Thank you for a great race. Enjoyed every minute - even suffering. The checkpoints are great and everyone very friendly. A well organised event and most enjoyable. Hazel Streicher (50M Thanks again for the wonderful time, 15.25 long hours!!! Well done on a successful trail. Allison Pledger (50M) Thank you very much for an excellent race!! Everything – arrangements, route, check points, people, etc contributed to a unique and wonderful experience. Charles Schuman (100M) Thank you for a wonderful experience and putting together such a professional event. I still can't believe that I made it in time but I think that had a lot to do with the wonderful support I received at all the checkpoints. Andrew Chananie (100M) It will always be my desire to come back to finish another Addo. Susan Hurter (100M) THANKS again for an awesome event. Once again the whole event went off seamlessly. Thanks so much to you, Estienne, the med crew and all the guys who were at the check points. Mark Millar (50M) Thank you for a wonderful, beautiful, spectacular and well organised event on sat. We had an amazing time and will be back next year! Lisa & Stephen Stead (25M) Thank you for organising a super race! We really enjoyed it even though the last 5 km was one of the hardest 5 km I have ever had to finish. Caroline D'Alton (50M) Thank you for such an awesome day on Saturday - the run left me breathless in more ways than one. I will never forget that climb after checkpoint 7 or "running" through a forest trying to beat the sunset. We were really very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to run in such beautiful surroundings and I must thank you and all the people who helped at the checkpoints for this wonderful (and pleasantly painful) experience. All I can say is that I admire everyone who did the 100 miler; they are all very brave people! Karen Whiffler (50M) I really enjoyed the 50 miler and was amazed by the diverse terrain and vegetation. The agapanthuses in the forest was really pretty and the birds magnificent. The expanses of the mountain tops were humbling in their extent. Of course the helpers were fantastic and nothing was too much for them to do for us. Dave Gassner (50M) Thank you guys so much for an amazing event!! I have never done any trail running before so this was all new to me, but what an amazing experience. I mean, the people at the water points were fantastic, the views on the route were incredible (definitely not what you get with road running!) and the heard of cows whose cowbells we head tinkling close by in the darkness & did not chase us!!! What more could we ask for?? Janine Jackson (50M) Klaus and I came from Frankfurt only to run the extreme marathon in Addo and we must say it was really worthwhile. Thank you very much for this very well organized event and also a big thank you to all the friendly people who were helping. To run for so many hours through such a beautiful and different countryside with hardly any sign of civilisation was something special. Even the sometimes exhausting ups and downs and the perfect weather helped to make this for us an unforgettable day with unusual impressions. Cai Elges (50M) I did the Addo 50 miler last Saturday, and would just like to thank you and all those involved with organizing the race for an absolutely awesome experience, from registration right through to the welcome at the finish. The CP’s were friendly and helpful, especially CP10 down at the farm – the “tannie” there was a real mood lifter! I will definitely be back next year! Mike van Vuuren (50M) I want to thank you for an experience, and that is what it was, although it took me 13 hours to do 46 km! Sarieta Schultz (25M) The event was really good and I quite enjoyed myself. I have decided to name the big climb up to checkpoint 8 'Heart Attack Hill' and the Zuurberg climb 'Heart Break Hill'. I think that sums them up quite well. Please could you pass on my thanks to all the marshals? Likewise many thanks to all the helpers behind the scenes. Having done my share of marshalling and helping at multi day events in Scotland I know what they have to do. Niall Watson (50M) |
